The message below comes from DBSA National Headquarters:
Enrollment is now open for DBSA’s Public Peer Specialist Course, beginning May 1, 2023.
A peer support specialist is a professional with lived trauma, mental health and/or substance use disorder experience who is trained and provides support and encouragement for others who are also working their way toward wellness. Peer support specialists work in behavioral health centers, hospitals, and within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
DBSA’s four-week Public virtual course can help prepare you for state certification and credentialing as a peer specialist. Through a blend of individual learning, group discussions, presentations, and role-playing, you will gain the skills you need to help others move toward wellness.
